What We Build
From the Frame
to the Roof
Six services, one standard: square, plumb, and built to stand up to forty below and spring thaw.
-
Framing
Additions, garages, cabins and remodels. A straight, solid frame is what everything else depends on, so we get it right the first time.
-
Decks
Your spot for the morning coffee and the evening fish fry. Built on proper footings to handle frost heave and heavy snow loads.
-
Siding
Tight, clean siding that sheds wind, rain and drifting snow and makes your place look sharp from the road and the dock.
-
Windows
Replacement and new-construction windows, installed and flashed right so the cold stays out and the view stays in.
-
Roofing
A roof is your first line of defense against a Minnesota winter. Shingle and metal roofing systems, built to carry the snow and keep the ice dams off. Storm damage? Call or text and we'll get out there.
-
Ice Dam Removal
When the ice builds up on the eaves and water starts backing up under the shingles, call us. We clear ice dams to protect your roof, walls and ceilings.

About Woods & Water
Same Patience.
Same Standards.

Woods & Water Carpentry is named for the two places owner Clayton Kettering would rather be than anywhere else: the deer stand before first light and the lake at sunrise. The same things that make a good hunter or angler make a good carpenter. Patience. Preparation. Doing it right when nobody's watching.
We treat every job like we're building our own camp: measure twice, use the right materials, and leave it cleaner than we found it. When we're done, it's built to last through a lot of Minnesota winters.
That's not just talk. One windy day this March, with rain on the way, the crew set the trusses and had the roof on by 5 o'clock, just in the nick of time. That's how we work.
Honest. Dependable. Quality work. That's our promise.
Clayton spent years framing for other companies, working his way up to foreman over crews of 7 to 10. When he decided he could run things better himself, his wife told him to go do it. The early years meant long days and building 4,000-square-foot houses with one employee. Today Woods & Water runs a crew of seven and has added metal roofing and siding to its framing work.
- Patient work. No rushing the details.
- Straight talk. Honest quotes, no bait and switch.
- Local roots. Based in Big Lake, MN.
